Welcome to the

Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group

Established 2007

News - 7th September 2007

On Friday 7th September 07 members enjoyed their “work out” in glorious weather conditions, not only toning their muscles but also losing a few Kilos in the loss of body fluids. Paula Emery, Cardiac Nursing Specialist was delighted to see so many old faces, and how well they now looked after their Cardiac event and structured rehabilitation programme. Paula’s normal duty, when not executing holiday backup, is normally seen visiting Cardiac Patients on their arrival home after being discharged from Morriston Hospital, and to offer moral support & guidance to both Cardiac patient and Carer after the traumatic ordeal of heart surgery, which she performs with dignity and excellence.

Sadly due to “technical problems” the Group has had to re-arranged their sponsored walk, which should have taken place on 18th September 07, to a date to be confirmed within the near future. The Committee tender their sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and also offer much gratitude to the general public for the wonderful financial support given to the event, hoping they will partake in the walk themselves as and when promulgated, which hopefully will take place around the Fishguard area.

On Monday 3rd September, County & Town Cllr Sian James, Cabinet Member of P.C.C sacrificed some of her valuable time to proffer some sterling advice and guidance to the newly formed Group’s Committee members, during their 2nd meeting held at the Fishguard Bay Hotel, by kind permission of the Hotel’s management. Cllr James praised the initiative of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group in forming such an action team, identifying the social need for a Cardiac Rehabilitation programme not only in the Fishguard area but also throughout Pembrokeshire, and promised to have answers to the many questions raised at the next committee meeting to be held on Monday 1st October 07.

Eileen Webb & Christopher Joseph donated two wonderful raffle prizes. One prize was set aside for future raffle events. The winner of today’s raffle was John. O. from St Davids, confessing he never ever wins a thing! Well-done John.

Apologies had been received from Terry Rosser & Iris Grover.

Our next regular meeting will on Friday 14th September 07 at the Fishguard Leisure Centre with the first session starting at 12.00 noon.
