Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 7th December 2007 Members of the Group offered their sincere condolences to Emlyn James, a member of the Rehabilitation Group in the very sad loss of his dear wife Peggy who died earlier this month. Having had a weeks respite from the therapeutic exercises at the Fishguard Leisure Centre members were more than eager to get started on their weekly work-up. It was so pleasing to see more Group members taking advantage of the specialised apparatus, e.g. Tread mill, Rowing, cycling etc, reflecting the wonderful progress they were making after they’re Cardiac event, and proving there was a life after having coronary surgery and other related problems to the heart. Due to poor weather conditions the programmed walk around the Fishguard area was postponed The Groups’ Treasurer, Mrs Margot Jenkins has had a nasty fall and has fractured a bone in her upper leg. Best wishes for a speedy recovery from us all, Margot. Interesting articles in the British Heart Foundation’s “Heart Health” December edition include topics of Breakthrough Surgery relating to keyhole surgery for Aortic valve replacements, and also suggesting that screening family members for heart conditions is a must and could prevent heart attacks. If any member of the public would like a FREE copy of the two monthly edition of “Heart Health” either telephone 08450 70 80 70 or e-mail bhf.org.uk or contact John Palmer on 01348 872240 who has a few spare copies available. Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group has been accepted by the British Heart Foundation to become an affiliated member. Our Cardiac Specialist Nurse, Irene Hartup was kept extremely busy offering invaluable advice, reassurance, guidance and support to another 5 new members to the Group. It is so re-assuring and comforting for both patient and carer to have such a professional available to answer questions, no matter how big or small, makes a huge difference during their assessment period with Irene. Members were overwhelmed & delighted with their new issue of Polo shirts embroidered with the Group’s logo and who all wore them with pride. Our next regular meeting will be on Friday 14th December 07 at the Fishguard Leisure Centre with the first session starting at 12.30pm and the second at 2.30pm.
