News - 14th September 2007

On Friday 14th September 07, members of the group were over the moon to learn of the wonderful donation of £500 made by Strumble Lodge of Freemasons on Wednesday 12th September 07, given in support and recognition of their most valuable Charitable work to the local community in respect to Cardiac Rehabilitation. The Secretary of the Rehab Group, John Palmer, responded to the very kind words given by Ken Knight stating how delighted he was to have been able to receive this marvellous donation on behalf of the Rehab Group, as eleven months earlier, almost to the day he was subjected to a heart attack and it was Ken Knight who came to his rescue minutes after the event, which lead to John’s consequent quadruple coronary by-pass at Morriston Hospital. John thanked all the members of the Strumble Lodge in their very kind thought and deed and gave a brief appraisal of the work accomplished by the Rehab Group and of the wonderful work and dedicated service given by the Cardiac Nursing Specialists and Fitness Instructor to whom the group are beholden.

A very warm welcome was given to Lena Dawson from Letterston on becoming a new member to the group, who was given an assessment by Cardiac Nursing Specialist Paula Emery, currently standing in for Irene Hartup enjoying her vacation in Cornwall. A few more new members are in the pipeline hailing from different locations in Pembrokeshire.

Christopher Joseph will shortly be going into Withybush Hospital to have some repair work carried out to his torsos. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Chris, hoping your operation is a complete success and that your return back to the Group will be soon.

An “old friend” made a brief courtesy visit to the Leisure Centre, Kevin Shales, from PCC Regeneration Group who came to witness the wonderful work undertaken by the members, and was amazed at the warmth, support and happy atmosphere in which the courageous workouts were undertaken.

John Owen donated a fantastic raffle prize for this week’s raffle, which was won by our Group’s Chairperson, Terry Grover.

Irene & Paula will be at a conference in Cardiff for our next meeting to be held on Friday 21st September 07, however our fitness instructor Terry Main has promised them both he will look after us all (while the cats away the mice will play, so they say).
