Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 16th November 2007 It was so heartening to see so much of the specialised equipment in the Fishguard Leisure Centre being used, on Friday 16th November 07,not only by the Cardiac Patients but also by post operative Patients having received new Hip & Knee replacements, trying to regain a better quality of life after their traumatic ordeals, under the watchful eye of the Fitness instructor, Ian. It was also encouraging to see some of the younger generation partaking in they’re fitness programme as well as showing us older generation how it should be done. During the normal exercise sessions, Irene our Cardiac Specialist Nurse introduced Lisa, a budding Cardiac Nurse from Withybush Hospital, who thoroughly enjoyed the “workout” alongside the Cardiac Patients, and realized how strenuous the exercises were and was soon peeling off some of her outer garments, identifying the exercises were helping her too in shedding a few calories and toning up her muscle structure. Paula Emery, from the British Heart Foundation, a Cardiac Specialist Nurse called in to see how all her past Patients were coping and witnessed the progress and benefits received from the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme, and was well please with what she observed during her short visit. Secretary reported he had received support letters from Stephen Crabb MP, Paul Davies AM & Mr A.C. Warlow Chief Officer, Pembrokeshire Community Health Council, for the continuation of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Groups throughout Pembrokeshire when the Big Lottery Fund ends next year. Our next meeting will be on Friday 23rd November 07 at the Fishguard Leisure Centre, with the first session starting at 12.00 noon and the second session at 2.30 pm.
