News - 26th October 2007

Friday 26th October 07 saw a large gathering of members to help John Palmer celebrate his “Golden Wedding” anniversary, before his departure to Spain for a holiday with his family. All the ladies of the group had worked extremely hard in the preparation of a cornucopia spread of appetising and delightful selection of savoury & confectionary, which was enjoyed by all after they’re weekly exercise routines. John, with a tear in his eye, thanked the members for their complete surprise party and wonderful & thoughtful signed anniversary card by all the members.

The united Christmas Lunch for all Cardiac Rehabilitation Groups as earlier advertised to be held on 12th December 07 at the Withybush Centre will now be held at Paters Hall Pembroke Dock, hoping as many of you will be able to attend.

Best wishes for speedy recoveries were echoed to Alun Phillips of Scleddau who has recently had a stay in Withybush Hospital and to Iris Grover who is waiting to be admitted into Hospital. It was nice to see Marion Wixey back in commission after her slight problem at the last meeting.

Once again the Strumble Lodge of Freemasons in Fishguard have had match funding from the Provincial Grand Lodge to match fund the donation of £500.00 made earlier this month to the Rehabilitation Group thus raising the donation to £1,000, which will be presented at their Christmas Lodge Festivities.

A warm welcome was given to Michael Field from Wolfscastle, having recently undergone Heart Surgery.

Some Phase four members of the rehabilitation group have now ventured on the more technical type apparatus under the ever-watchful eyes of the Cardiac Nurse Irene Hartup & Fitness Instructor Terry Main, making sure no one goes above their limitations but also helping them to gain more confidence, stability & body strength during the exercises.

Bookings for the Christmas lunch at the Harp Inn, Letterston on 21st December 07, came in at a vigorous pace, even so the secretary’s pen ran dry. However there are still places available for those that have not yet chosen from the delectable comprehensive cuisine, bookings must be made by Friday 9th November 07.
