News - 31st August 2007

Friday 31st August 07 saw a large gathering of members not only to partake in a tailored-made exercise programme as arranged and supervised by our fitness instructor Terry Main, but also to wish Irene Hartup our resident Cardiac Nursing Specialist bon-voyage on her well deserved summer vocation to Cornwall. Irene’s temporary void will be covered by Paula Emery another Specialised Cardiac Nurse. Perhaps there will be different readings on the Heart monitors next week, we will wait and see.

Four new members were welcomed into the Rehabilitation Group namely: - Robert Downing of Castle-Morris, Ronald John, Wolfscastle, Gordon Watton of Llanrhian and Clive Jackson of Lowertown bringing the membership up to 42 members. We are all strangers to start, but by the end of the session, many friends are made.

A warm welcome was given to Norman & Judith Shales from St Dogmaels having been on holiday in Spain.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery & return to the group were extended to Reg Jones of Letterston who has not been enjoying the best of health as of late. Also to Peggy James of Trevine who is currently being looked after by her Husband Emlyn having recently celebrated a “Big” birthday.

Last week’s raffle, a Hamper of Fruit was won by Glyn Howells of Fishguard. Eileen Webb as donated by Iris Grover won a delightful Food hamper.
On the Birthday of “Steps 2 Health” Members of the Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group will be taking part on a sponsored walk on Tuesday 18th September 07 from County Hall, Haverfordwest to Fortunes Frolic then on to Uzmaston and return to County Hall. Members of the general public are more than welcome to join in the event, and hopefully will benefit from the walk enjoying the exercise, fresh air and indeed the excellent company. A medical team of specialists will be on hand in case of any minor problems. The walk will start at 10.00am promptly outside County Hall. Come and join us.

Our group meets every Friday at the Fishguard Leisure Centre. First session of exercises starts at 12.00 noon until approximately 1.45pm. The seconded group starts at 2.30pm.
