News - 1st February 2008

During our daily walking exploits to try and keep fit, how wonderful it is to see the spring bulbs coming to life after the very wet windy weather conditions experienced of late. However with the severe artic conditions upon us once it was delightful to see so many members springing into life at the Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation meeting on Friday 1st February 08 and indeed remembering the change of times for each sessions. Well done to you all.

Our Cardiac Nursing Specialist, Irene was kept extremely busy with yet another influx of Cardiac Patients for assessments and that friendly welcoming chat so as to put to ease any anxieties and problems regarding they’re cardiac event.

Sadly, Dilwyn Davies & Mary Raymond are still indispose due to poor health and injury, and all members expressed best wishes for their speedy recoveries to better well-being.

A fantastic donation was received from Mr Clive Jackson, Cardiac Patient, to assist in the purchase of Cardiac chest/wrist monitors for the Group, which was most gratefully received.

Congratulations to Terry & Iris who will be celebrating they’re Ruby Wedding Anniversary (40 years) on Sunday 10th February 08. All approved blessings for them both to carry the celebration over the three-day period, Friday to Sunday.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief to know the secretary will be absent for a couple of weeks on his jaunt to Australia to celebrate his sister’s eightieth birthday in the sunshine state of Brisbane. However, not with standing failure to carry out the weekly raffle, stalwart committee member Shirley has offered to complete the task.

A very productive and informative meeting, regarding “Small Grants” application was held with committee members and PAVS representative Vanessa John at the Fishguard Leisure Centre directly after completion of the weekly exercise session. Vanessa was most impressed with the numbers attending the Rehabilitation Group and the excellent work and advice given to Cardiac Patients and their Carers, by the Cardiac Specialist Nurse & Fitness Instructor.
