News - 8th August 2008

On Friday 8th August 08 it was so wonderful to see so many members attending the Rehabilitation Programme both at the Phase 3 & Phase 4 Groups not only for the benefit of trying to keep fit but also the jovial & happy atmosphere it generates, or perhaps, for some who would like to be recognised for the current Olympics games!

Secretary announced a forthcoming outing to either Llanerchaeron Gardens or The Welsh Botanical Gardens, requesting member’s choice of venue & date.

Our grateful thanks to “Somerfield” Supermarket and they’re courteous staff for the opportunity for our Group to hold a fundraising event at the Store on Thursday 7th August 08, and indeed the generosity of the general public for they’re continued support towards the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme, which helped to raise the Groups coffers immensely. Thank you all.

Sadly our attendance at the Nevern Show on Wednesday 6th August 08 never materialised due to the inclement weather and the fear of getting “bogged down” after so much rain.

Hopefully we will be in attendance at both the Newport & Hayscastle shows (weather permitting) to be held on Saturday 16th August 08. A giant cuddly Penguin has been donated by Marion Wixley, which we are looking for a name, this will be at Newport with numerous other fund raising novelties. Our outstanding Cardiac Nursing Specialist, Irene Hartup will also be in attendance to try and answer some of your concerning heart problems and questions so as to put you back on the road to a much happier and healthy life style. At Hayscastle Show, under the cover of our red marquee Mike & Angie Flude will be tempting you all to a variety of novel competitions hoping you will win some fantastic carpentry and artistic creations as donated Julian & Ruth Coulson. So come along to both Shows and really enjoy yourselves benefiting from both the fresh air and exercise.

Our next regular meeting of “Terry and his Pacemakers” will be held at the Fishguard Leisure Centre on Friday 15th August 08, don’t forget to “sign in” or bear the consequences of extra curriculum! Phase 4 members session starts at 10.00 am and Phase 3 members session start at 1.00 pm.
