Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 9th May 2008 Cardiac Group members were delighted to welcome back two young Ladies from Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Amy & Sian from form 6 who are budding British Association Cardiac Rehabilitation trainers (BACR) in the making, who once again were enjoying the task of collecting more data for they’re school project. Apparently Amy & Sian have volunteered to conduct the warming up session (taking advice & guidance from our regular Fitness Instructor) next week, Friday 16th May 08, which everyone is looking forward to. Invited guest Ms Lorna Unwin, Funding Development Officer, from Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) was introduced to the morning session Cardiac Group members, during their cooling down period and blood pressure checks after a very strenuous two hour work-out. Lorna was very impressed with the activities Group members’ under-took and the numerous varieties of exercises to help build muscle tones, confidence and self-esteem after a cardiac event, and the fantastic support and camaraderie given to each other as witnessed during the occasion. The occasion was also marked by the official presentation of a Small Grant Cheque for £545.12 to the Group’s Chairman, Mr Terry Grover and Cardiac Nursing Specialist, Irene Hartup, who were both delighted to receive the magnificent donation to purchase a small marquee and an all weather information board. Monday 12th May 08 with glorious weather conditions members from nearly every Cardiac Group in Pembrokeshire, supported the Step2Health walk at Blackpool Mill. It was so rewarding to see so many of the general public partaking in the stroll and enjoying a most welcome “Cuppa” and friendly chat at the end of the walk, before questioning “when and where is the next walk”, which will be on Friday 23rd May 08, meeting outside City Hall, St. Davids, starting at 2.00pm to St Non’s to Porthclais. On Tuesday 20th May 08 representatives from all Cardiac Support Groups in Pembrokeshire will be meeting at the Fishguard Arms, Haverfordwest, hostelry at 1.00 pm for 1.30 pm for the purpose of trying to integrate Groups and exchanging ideas into purposeful Aims & Objectives for Cardiac Patients in Pembrokeshire. A Chorus of “Happy birthday” was sung to those who are celebrating their Birthdays in May, Eileen Webb, Marion Wixey, Iris Grover, William Evans, Lorraine Morris, Gordon Watton & Derek John, congratulations were extended to them all. The next merry meeting of “Terry and his pacemakers” will be on Friday 16th May 08 at the Fishguard Leisure Centre, first session starting at 10.45 am followed by phase three group at 2.00pm.
