News - 10th October 2008

Friday 10th October 08 saw the welcome return of Irene our Cardiac Nursing Specialist from her Nursing seminar held in York on 3rd October. Very much enthused and encouraged by the detail and information gained from the meeting, Irene, hopefully will disseminate relevant action and updated procedures received, as and when time will permit during future “cooling down” sessions.

Best wishes for speedy recoveries were offered to Norman Shale from St Dogmaels and Margot Jenkins of Creosgoch. As reported in last week’s local editorial, Norman & Judith celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary and it seems the excitement was too much for the young fellow! Margot has not been at all well after her recent move to St Davids, from Croesgoch.

A very warm welcome was given to Steven who has made health improvements after his Cardiac event and has managed to progress to Phase 4. To graduate from Phase 3 to Phase 4 normally takes eight weeks after surgery, albeit a watchful eye on all exercise routines are still maintained throughout individual tailored exercises, even in the Phase 4 Group.

Grateful thanks to St Davids Art Group for they’re very kind thought and generous donation of £200.00, which came as a complete surprise, but never the less received with much appreciation.

Another surprise came when a rendering of “happy birthday” was sung to Lena Dawson who will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday 12th October 08.

An Autumn Bazaar is being organised for Saturday 8th November 08 at Yr Hen Ysgol, Dinas Cross, starting at 10.00 am until 1.00 pm. For table bookings contact Eileen Webb on 01348 811208, all are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be available.

With Christmas not so far away, Secretary reminded members of the forthcoming attractions: 10th December festive cheer at the Patter Hall, Pembroke Dock, with live entertainment and buffet type catering. 12th December Christmas Lunch at the Fishguard Bay Hotel for a two-course lunch. And on 16th December a united Cardiac Rehabilitation Groups, Christmas Lunch at the Beggar’s Reach Country Hotel, Burton. With all these jollifications and massive intakes of cholesterol, additional Rehabilitation sessions are being arranged. However the therapeutic socialization will be a rewarding tonic to us all, helping us to rise above the current demoralising financial state of affairs.

With a few places remaining, members of the general public that are interested in partaking in our Cardiac activity respite holiday on the Isle of Wight, from 11th May – 16th May 09 will be more than welcome to join us. A reminder our next committee meeting will be held at the Fishguard Bay Hotel on Tuesday 21st October 08 starting at 2.00 pm. The Annual General Meeting for our Group will be held in the month of December. Date, Place and time will be notified.
