Welcome to the

Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group

News - 11th April 2008

It has been an extremely busy week not only for the Cardiac Patients but also for the hard working Committee members who had they’re 7th Committee meeting of the Cardiac Group on Monday 7th April 08 at the Fishguard Bay Hotel by kind permission of the management.

With such a high demand on places for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group conference on 27th June 08 at St Brides Hotel, we must now reported that all seats have now been allocated.

There was a buzz of excitement amongst members when they arrived for they’re weekly work-out at the Fishguard Leisure Centre on Friday 11th April 08, as the secretary of the group issued each member a questionnaire to complete, regarding a proposition in holding a respite activity break within the near future, which was one of the many topics discussed at the Committee meeting earlier in the week. The excitement of such a proposed venture caused personal heart monitors to accelerate considerably, which warranted Terry, the Fitness Instructor to play more sedate music to quieten the tempo of the exercise programme, which had a more calming effect.

There were numerous apologies from members that could not attend, having caught dreaded colds, and not wishing to share the “bugs” with the group members.

Shirley and Eileen submitted their apologies having broken down in they’re car on the way to the Fishguard Leisure Centre, which was considered as a reasonable story, when the pair arrived on the last phase of the work-out.

April’s current issue No 19 of “Heart Healthy” identify Women are far more likely to worry about cancer, particularly, breast cancer, than heart disease, but heart disease is the biggest cause of death among women in the UK. So ladies if in doubt always get yourself checked out. Lets beat try and beat this dreaded Heart Disease together.

It is also suggested that regular exercise can help the control of Diabetes, which is also a contributing factor to heart disease. So lads & lasses buy yourselves a decent pair of walking boots and some waterproof gear (as you need it this weather) and enjoy a nice long walk whenever you can.

Our next regular meeting of “Terry and his Pacemakers) will be held at the Fishguard Leisure Centre on Friday 18th April 08, with the first session starting at 10.45 am and the second session at 2.00 pm.
