News - 14th March 2008

A very warm welcome by the Cardiac Rehab members was given to the Group’s secretary on Friday 14th March, returning from his exploits in Singapore & Australia. His story of the tropical sunshine and seamlessly never-ending BBQ’s brought some warmth and comfort to the Group’s members on a very cold supposing spring March day.

The secretary heralded good news in the light that Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) had awarded the Fishguard Cardiac Group a Grant of £545.12 to purchase a 3 metre x 3 metre Marquee and also an all weather information notice board, to be used at various functions within the county to help rise the profile of the Cardiac Rehabilitation programme in Pembrokeshire.

A welcome was also given to Joyce, another Cardiac sufferer and also a recent hip replacement patient to the Group who thoroughly enjoyed her tailored made exercise programme choreographed by fitness instructor Terry Main and the wonderful socialising over a cup of tea during the morning session.

Irene the Cardiac Nursing Specialist was kept extremely busy assessing and re-assuring another three new members to the Group who having undergone the traumatic ordeal of heart surgery.

Sincere condolences were given to Mr & Mrs Grover in the recent death of a close relative.

Shirley Inman carried on the raffle duties for the Group in the temporary absence of the secretary to whom was given grateful thanks for all her sterling efforts.

As Friday 21st is “Good Friday” there will not be any Rehabilitation meeting. Our next merry meeting will be on Friday 28th March 08, where an organised walk in conjunction with Steps2Health will take place at St Davids around Caerfai & St Nons, meeting at the National Park visitors Centre 10.00 am for 10.30 am. Everyone is more than welcome to join the walk and have a refreshing cup of tea at the end of the walk and enjoy the camaraderie of the Group’s membership.
