Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 16th May 2008 Sadly Amy and Sian from Ysgol Bro Gwaun, form 6, were unable to attend the Rehabilitation meeting on Friday 17th May 08, due to more pressing educational requirements, however they promised to take the “warming up” session next week Friday 23rd May 08. Terry Main, Fitness Instructor was amazed at the number of Group members attending the phase four morning session. Perhaps it was the incentive of knowing the young ladies were going to take the first session. We will observe next week. Some members were encouraged to sample the fitness apparatus, e.g. tread mill, rowing machine and cycling, under the watchful eyes of the fitness Instructor Ian. Members reported how they thoroughly enjoyed the mechanical “work-out”. Once again the pulse rates of the Lady members within the group were set racing when assistant Cardiac Nursing Specialist Andrew Kirkhouse undertook specific assessment measurements during exercise, which are needed to record how well a patient is recovering after they’re Cardiac event. Over a most welcomed “cuppa”, Cardiac Nursing Specialist Irene, announced a forthcoming Audit into the future of the Cardiac Rehabilitation programme in Pembrokeshire, which will be conducted by a private firm, taking detail from amongst all the Rehabilitation Groups members in Pembrokeshire, where patients will be invited to partake in answering questions on the benefits acquired from the numerous aspects of the rehabilitation programme. Rehab: Groups from all over Pembrokeshire will be attending a united meeting at The Fishguard Arms, Hostelry on Tuesday 20th May 08, starting at 1.00 pm for 1.30 pm. Members are reminded that our next meeting on Friday 23rd May 08, the morning session will incorporate both phase 3 & phase 4 members starting at 10.45 am, followed by the afternoon walk at St Davids, meeting outside the City Hall by 2.00 pm. Don’t forget to bring a drink with you and wear sensible footwear. Although it has been National Sandwich week, you should not forget your 5 a day fruit & veg, (five board beans or five garden peas do not constitute your quota for the day) and have that daily exercise walk when the weather allows. Don’t become a Cardiac statistic. |
