Welcome to the

News - 19th December 2008

Friday 19th December 08 saw a very large gathering of members from both morning and afternoon Groups ending the year of the Rehabilitation Programme, with celebrations and presentations Firstly: to Sarah Jane Jones as the most exceptional and improved patient for 2008 with a certificate of merit presented by our Cardiac Nursing Specailist Irene and Terry Main Fitness Instructor.

The second presentation of a bottle of wine came as a complete surprise to our Fitness Instructor Terry Main, (who was hoping to keep his birthday a secret) celebrating his birthday on the last Rehabilitation session of the year, declared he was over twenty-one, after a wonderful chorus of “happy birthday” was sung to him. A special “Apple Strudel” with several candles enough to centrally heat a small bungalow, which, by the way were all blown out in one breath by Terry, gave the signal for the small Christmas cold buffet to start and was enjoyed by all.

Chairman of the Group Terry Grover made the third presentation, to our Cardiac Nurse who was taken absolutely by surprise, when a double heart pendant with three small diamonds on a delicate chain was given as a token not only for the excellent and dedicated service to all the Fishguard Cardiac Patients but also the celebration of thirty years of her life committed to nursing in general. The monies collected for the present were secretly made before the start of Rehabilitation sessions. Many congratulations Irene from us all at the Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Seventeen members of the Fishguard Rehab: Group attended an excellent United Pembrokeshire Rehabilitation Christmas Lunch at the Beggar’s Reach Country Hotel on Tuesday 16th December 08, under the supervision of Elaine Scale and Ray Lockyer, who had worked extremely hard in all they’re efforts in planning and organising the event. Some wonderful raffle prizes had been donated, raised considerable funds for the Charity, embarrassingly though Fishguard members claimed many of the prizes. Our grateful thanks to Mr & Mrs Smallman of Beggar’s Reach Country hotel for their very warm welcome and kind hospitality. Also our sincere gratitude to Elaine & Ray for all their hard work in planning and organising the event. Well done to you both.

The Fishguard & Goodwick Town Council made a magnificent donation to the Fishguard Cardiac Group to purchase 5 Cardiac Wrist and Chest monitors, which will be worn by Cardiac Patients during exercise mode. Our grateful thanks to the Fishguard & Goodwick Town Council in their kind thought and deed.
