Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 20th June 2008 Members having not met for over a fortnight were full of jovial conversation when they gathered at the Fishguard Leisure Centre on Friday 20th June 08, in fact the Fitness Instructor, Terry Main had a hard job to mobilize members into their respective work-out modes and into some realistic action. Both Phase 3 & Phase 4 groups merged for the day due to an organised walk arranged by Steps2Health, starting at the bottom of the old “Gas Works Hill”. A large number of participants for the walk came from other Rehabilitation Groups around Pembrokeshire who really enjoyed the wonderful views and picturesque mosaic history of Goodwick along the Promenade, through the busy town’s Main Street shopping mall, into Plas-y-Gamil and down into Wern Road and back along the Parrog in brilliant weather conditions, and indeed enjoying newfound friendship and companionship over a most welcomed cuppa at the end of the stroll. Group members offered sincere best wishes for a speedy recovery to Norman Shale, who having recently spent a few days in Withybush Hospital having investigations into a recurring coronary problem. On Tuesday 24th June 08 members from all Rehabilitation Groups from around Pembrokeshire met at the Harp Inn, Letterston to enjoy a “Working Lunch” and the wonderful camaraderie experience in making new friendships. During the proceedings our Cardiac Nursing Specialist, Irene Hartup had the wind taken completely out of her sails when a bouquet of flowers was presented to her on the premature occasion of celebrating her birthday for 25th June 08. Irene disclosed that her birthday was over 21 but was way under a bus-pass era. All had a wonderful time. On Friday 27th June 08 invited members attended a Pembrokeshire Community Healthy Heart Conference at St Brides Hotel, Saundersfoot, entitled “Putting the Heart into Education” with a variety of guest speakers such as, Professors, Doctors, Consultants and Welsh Assembly Government, contained within the full programme of the day. A full report will be given on Friday 4th July 08. Members are reminded there will not be any Rehabilitation Programme for both Phase 3 & Phase 4 today 27th June 08, due to the aforementioned conference taking place at Saundersfoot. Our next merry meeting of “Terry and his Pacemakers” will be on Friday 4th July 08, at the Fishguard Leisure Centre, when the new starting times will be introduced. Phase 4 starting time 10.00am till 12.30 pm and Phase 3 starting time 1.00pm. Please make a special effort to attend this unique occasion, as I’m sure you will not be disappointed.
