Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 23rd May 2008 There was tremendous camaraderie when phase 4 & phase 3 members met for the first time on Friday 23rd May 08, when both morning and afternoon Rehabilitation sessions merged. Members were able to put faces to names during their self-introductory to each other. Young Amy Johnson of Ysgol Bro Gwaun, form 6, showing zeal and confidence lead the warming up session for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group. Amy certainly had completed her homework in all aspects for her “Sports Leadership Course” by introducing new exercises to the Group, under the very watchful eye of Fitness Instructor, Terry Main. The warming up session was even more complex for this young pupil as both Phase 3 & Phase 4 Groups had on this occasion combined due to the afternoon’s walk at St Davids, but Amy managed to tailor the exercises to individual needs. It was also very rewarding to witness this budding fitness instructor, helping the elderly in their routines, giving support and encouragement as and when required. Group members wish you both every success in your projects. Well-done Amy. Sian Jenkins was unavoidably detained on other duties. With so much going on, no one noticed Mr Chris Kellett arriving with his Video camera at the ready to record the morning session exercises for the forthcoming conference to be held at St Brides Hotel, Suandersfoot on 27th June 08. The Video will be shown as a background animation throughout the conference, during the procedure of thanking the Big Lottery Fund for the wonderful support they had given to all Cardiac Patients in Pembrokeshire over the past years, and to PCC Leisure & Local Health Board in the management of the fund. Our eldest member Gwen Halliday was the lucky winner of this weeks raffle as drawn by Amy Johnson, and as Gwen won only a few weeks back she requested a re-draw. Terry Rosser was the second lucky winner. Another new member was welcomed into the Group, hailing from Nevern, Newport; bring our total membership up to 73. Directly after the Rehabilitation, members made their own way down to St Davids, City Hall for the afternoon walk to St. Non’s and onto Porthclais in beautiful weather conditions, however having undergone strenuous exercises in the morning some members were exhausted to complete the full stroll. On Tuesday 20th May 08, a very fruitful and encouraging meeting to integrate all Cardiac Rehabilitation Groups in Pembrokeshire was held at the “Fishguard Arms” Haverfordwest, Hostelry. The next meeting of the United Cardiac Groups will be held on 24th June 08. Venue will be confirmed. Our next merry meeting of “Terry and his pacemakers” will be on Friday 30th May 08, at the Fishguard Leisure Centre with the Phase 4 session starting at 10.45 am and Phase 3 group at 2.00 pm.
