News - 28th November 2008

With only 26 days to Christmas it was rewarding to see so many members already in the festive spirit at the Rehabilitation sessions both in the morning and afternoon Groups. Irene our Cardiac Nursing Specialist was once again kept extremely busy offering advice and guidance to some more new members into the Group. A warm welcome was also given to four new graduates from Phase 3 Group into the Phase 4 mode.

During the “cooling down period” and supping that glorious cup of tea after exercises, the Secretary reminded members of the Free Festive party to be held at Pater Hall, Pembroke Dock on Wednesday 10th December 08 starting at 1.00 pm until 4.30 pm, all that is asked is a small contribution to the festive table if possible. There will be live entertainment during the afternoon.

With seventeen eager members from the Fishguard Cardiac Group that are going to attend the Christmas Lunch at the Beggar’s Reach Country Hotel on Tuesday 16th December 08, Irene was inundated with monies for the event. Terry & Matt our Training Instructors will be looking for those portly figures after these two festive events, so be warned, not too much of those stodgy puddings!

On Tuesday 25th November 08 a United Pembrokeshire Cardiac meeting was held at the Ship & Anchor, High Street, Fishguard with 16 members present. The elected Chairperson for the meeting was Mr Michael Flude who conducted the proceedings admirably. Sadly no one from the professional side to discuss future walks etc, was able to attend due to work commitments, however the integral social aspects of the meeting prove very beneficial to everyone attending, which was a tonic in its self. Our grateful thanks to Jackie for her very kind permission for the use of her facilities at the Ship & Anchor for the purpose of the United Pembrokeshire Cardiac meeting.

Deposits for the Spring Holiday at the Isle of Wight 11th May to 16th May 2009 are well in hand. A “draft itinerary” was issued, which proved favourable to all partaking.

A full report of the Annual General meeting held at the Fishguard Bay Hotel on Tuesday 2nd December 08 will be given on Friday 12th December 08.
