News - 13th March 2009

What a fantastic colourful turnout by Cardiac Members and Staff on Friday 13th March 09 “Comic Relief Day”, with everyone getting into the spirit of helping less fortunate people than ourselves. Our professional staff also took part in the jollifications, with Irene managing to get back into her school uniform (wow) complete with prefect badges on her “Old School Tie” and Terry and “Ducky” dressing up as Rugby players. There were also colourful costumes displayed by Gwen, Rosemary, Chris, Mike J. Steve and John O, which all added to a truly marvellous day. Rebecca’s input to raising funds for the day was once again portrayed in her brilliant baking skills to which everyone had a “take away”. Gwen our eldest member donated some magnificent raffle prizes, which help the collection bucket to fill for the very good cause. The secretary dodged all the efforts having made the excuse he had an appointment at Llanelli. The afternoon Rehab: Group also enjoyed the event with similar activities. All had a most happy enjoyable day. Chairman, Terry Grover announced with the full blessing of members and committee that a small donation will be made from the Cardiac Rehabilitation resources and will be presented next Friday 20th March 09 to “Comic Relief”, which received a generous round of applause.

Best wishes for speedy recoveries were extended to Maureen Smith currently in Withybush Hospital and also to Shirley Inman having recently had investigations made to re-occurring Coronary problems, but is now convalescing at home.

With even more new candidates for the Group Irene, our Cardiac Nursing Specialist was kept extremely busy processing them, albeit they seemed quite confused as to hilarious costumes and happiness coming from current “Rehabbers” who were in “Comic Relief” drag costume.

With the “Grand Draw” looming around the corner members are requested to return all unsold tickets, counterfoils and monies by Friday 27th March 09 to the secretary.

The balance of Holiday monies are also requested to be finalised by 27th March 09 to the secretary. Good weather for the event has been ordered and hopefully a good time will be the order of the day. Final arrangements have been made with Hotel & Coach Company for the event.

Our next meeting of Terry and his Pacemakers will be at the Fishguard Leisure Centre on Friday 20th March 09, with the first session starting at 0930 am.
