Welcome to the

Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group

Established 2007

News - 27th February 2009

Once again a tremendous turnout of Cardiac Members on Friday 27th February 09, and indeed all arriving as per scheduled times, which pleased our professional staff immensely. More members have been graduated to the more strenuous exercises in the gymnasium under the watchful eyes of Training Instructor, Ian Smith. Albeit our weekly training/workouts are hard work but very beneficial to us all and it is so rewarding to see so many people really enjoying themselves during the exercise modes whether in the gymnasium or exercise studio.

A warm welcome was giving to Marian Wixey and Eileen Webb, both having been incapacitated for several weeks and are now looking much better meeting up with their old Cardiac friends again.

Barrie Thomas our official photographer armed with his DVD recording apparatus was almost inconspicuous within his duties of filming more exercise modes being executed by members and also his skilful technique interviewing the Cardiac Nursing Specialist in her related tasks of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme.

The established risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure, diabetes, excess weight, physical inactivity, smoking, high cholesterol levels and a strong family history of the condition. People who are concerned about their heart health should try to adopt a healthy lifestyle by exercising and having a balanced diet, if you are in any doubt whatsoever, always get advise from your GP before becoming Cardiac statistic. During inclement weather, house work can be counted as part of your daily exercise and activity what better way to “Spring Clean” your inner-self and getting that extra oxygen around the body and casting aside the sluggishness, than by cleaning your windows (inside), grabbing a broom & duster and other mundane tasks around the house, creating some activity into your system. It is so wonderful to see so many people walking or cycling along the pathway from Fishguard – Scleddau, enjoying their constitutional.

The secretary during the “cuppa” period issued a dossier of holiday information to each and every member attending the activity respite holiday.

Our next meeting of Terry and his Pacemakers will be on Friday 6th March 09 at the Fishguard Leisure Centre starting at 0930 am. For more information either contact Terry Grover on 01239 820607 or John Palmer on 01348 872240 or indeed why not visit our website www.FishguardCRG.co.uk as so generously sponsored by ePembs.
