Welcome to the
Fishguard Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Established 2007 |
News - 30th January 2009 With the dust settling on recent festive jollifications and those heavy bills now falling through the letter boxes, it is no wonder Cardiac members on Friday 30th January 09 came to enjoy the work-out, relaxing therapies and the friendly chat at Fishguard Leisure Centre. It was also rewarding to witnessing Phase 3 members arriving in very good time for their important checks prior to exercise. Once again Irene our Cardiac Nursing Specialist was kept extremely busy in the assessment of more new Cardiac Patients in boosting their confidence by her words of wisdom and encouragement, which are all important and an integral part towards the recovery programme. Best wishes for a speedy recovery was extended to Marian Wixey of Dinas Cross, who has been poorly with the dreaded “Flu” bug for some considerable time. Mike Flude & John Palmer attended a very productive and informative meeting with the Exercise Coordinating Officer, Mrs Elaine Scale at the MEADS Leisure centre Milford Haven on Tuesday 26th January 09, to establish the feasibility of uniting all the Cardiac Rehabilitation Groups in Pembrokeshire, which are currently managed by the NHS and Pembrokeshire Leisure. From the information gained it is obvious this will take time and a lot of effort from Management and volunteers alike for this mammoth task to come to fruition, never the less, the advantages and benefits for Cardiac Patients are more than worth our small meagre efforts. Grand raffle prizes for Friday 3rd April 09 draw, are still rolling in. Tickets will shortly be on sale and the Mayor of Fishguard & Goodwick Cllr David Williams will officiate the Draw on the said date at the Fishguard Leisure Centre at 12.00 noon. The trip to Cardiff Millennium Centre with an overnight stay at the four star Holland Hotel, 28th – 29th August 09, to see Connie Fisher in the musical “The Sound of Music” was well patronized and will be a tonic for our members to enjoy. Our respite activity holiday to the Isle of Wight 11th May – 16th May 09 is still on course, with a very impressive itinerary to suit all tastes and enjoyment. However all monies for the event must be made by 31st March 09. Best wishes to the Fishguard & District Stroke Club who have now change their meeting place on Tuesdays to the Letterston Memorial Hall. Our next regular meeting of Terry and his Pacemakers will be at the Fishguard Leisure Centre on Friday 6th February 09, with the first session starting at 0930 am.
