On Tuesday 3rd August 40 members enjoyed lunch out at the Forge Restaurant. Weather conditions were once again to our favour, albeit very hot and humid. The volunteer PVTA drivers made an early start & worked extremely hard to pick-up members spread over a large geographical area of Pembrokeshire so as to meet the main coach by 11.30 at Min-yr-Afon, as supplied by Summerdale Coaches.
A very warm welcome was given to Eric & Dilys Morris from Oswestry, friends of Committee member Brian Dickin also to Gladys Feildhouse related to Roger & Dorothy Beckwith.
The Chairman gave apologies from Billy Affley, Doreen Swailes, Grahame & Wendy Bindon, Judi Chapman, Margaret Phillips (Trevine) & Our President Mr Ben Fenimore. Michael gave an appraisal of Ben’s health stating Ben is supporting his damaged pride in thinking he could manage to repair loose floor boards adjacent to his Grandfather clock. Sadly the loose floorboard was stabilizing the Clock and when moved caused the clock to fall on top of him, so our President has adopted a new nom de plume, “olde grandfather tyme”. However, the Club members offer their sincere best wishes to him for a speedy recovery back to good health.
Michael congratulated Annie Percey, Mona James & Margaret Phillips (Letterston) on their marvellous efforts within the sponsored walk (Annie raised £125.00 & Mona & Margaret raised £59.00). To date monies received is £582.00. Grateful thanks to the general public, local organisations and businesses for their support to our sponsored walk.
The Chairman continued, stating the two previously advertised outings “Singing In the Rain” and “Holiday on Ice” have been well supported with only two tickets left for Singing in the rain.
The Secretary advised members that the programme for 2005 regular meetings will be on a similar format to that of the current years events and requested members input into their suggestions for, Guest Speakers, Activities, Lunches & Teas out.
Plans for next years respite holiday, which by popular choice will be at Plymouth under the direction of Mrs Wendy Bindon.
Birthday Greeting was sung to our Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis and to Eric Morris a Club guest. Greetings & Congratulation were given to Viv & Rita to celebrate their 54th Wedding anniversary on 4th August 04.
Before bringing the festivities to a close a bouquet of flowers and a Stroke Association pen was presented to Mrs Sue Hosgood in recognition for all her hard work and kindness given on numerous Club events and activities.
The Secretary gave a reminder of the forthcoming “Flag Day” on 19th August 04.
