On Tuesday 4th October 05 club members arrived with various books of reference under their arm to partake in the afternoons quiz. Wendy, the Club’s organiser had a premonition this would materialise, deviously composed a musical quiz from various CDs of tunes, taken from the past, which indeed created many frowning brows. Ann Harries reflected her musical knowledge & intellect by returning the most correct answers to win the quiz. Tony & Joyce Green requested a restart to the quiz due to their unavoidable lateness, but sadly the Quiz Master, Michael Lewis over-ruled their request without detrimental comment.
Winners of the second quiz were Brian Williams & Tony Green who returned the highest scores on a quiz appertaining to “Horse Phrases”. Some members were given encouragement along the way, from the Committee, without gaining any reward for their efforts.
The Chairman gave apologies on behalf of the following: -
Ivor & Pegi Evans, Vaughan & Olivia Evans, Sue & Len Langford, Lillian Evans, Eluned Owen, Wendy Owen, Brenda Jaunch, Eiddwen Morris, Annie Percy, Dorothy Beckwith, Ann Goodman & Roger Hibben
With much enthusiasm “Happy birthday” was sung to Joyce Morgan of Llain Las & Rita Rowles.
Some members requested a recount to the Swansea shopping trip in November, which proved that the majority now wanted to visit Llanelli instead, which was favoured for its undercover shopping, compactness & wheelchair/scooter friendly precincts. Perhaps there is some food for thought for Fishguard & Goodwick Town council to consider in their future planning and development of Fishguard!
Wendy advised members on next years respite holiday giving more detail to the event.
Secretary, John Palmer, gave members a “snapshot” to next years programme of events, as compiled by the Committee, which seemed to satisfy Club member’s desires & wishes.
Members were reminded to bring along some of their antiques to the next regular meeting to be held on Tuesday 18th October 05, at St Teresa’s, when Mrs Povey a well known guest of the Club will be giving a talk on Antiques and maybe make value of their assets.
A vote of thanks was given to all that donated so many raffle prizes. Even the Treasurer, Bryn Davies added his comment of gratitude giving praise to the funds raised thus far from raffle takings. Brian Dickin’s sterling efforts once again caused the coffers to rise way above the half-century mark.
Our thanks to the entire force of domestic scientists (who prepared and cleared up & completed the washing up) on the day.
