At the meeting held on Tuesday 6th April 04, at St Teresa’s Convent Hall, the chairman, Mr Michael Lewis offered apologies from: - the President Mr Ben Fenemore who had been admitted into Withybush Hospital to undergo medical investigation and treatment, apologies were also given from Olivia & Vaughan Evans, Mona James and Terry Williams all of which were suffering poor health. Best wishes were extended to them all for a speedy recovery.

A very warm welcome was given to Ivor & Peggy Evans, who hail from Croesgoch on becoming members and were wished many happy hours of enjoyment within the Club.

Members were informed of the excellent grant received from Awards for All Wales to help with the costs of Transportation & Accommodation costs on the projected respite holiday at Llandrindod Wells in May, which will cost in the region of £11,000. The presentation of the cheque was made by the Mayor of Fishguard & Goodwick Cllr Ann Harries and her Consort Cllr David Williams, which took place at the Ship & Anchor on Thursday 8th April 04.

Rita reported another electric scooter had been purchased from the generous donation as received from the Knights of the Fishguard & District Round Table, proceeds from their Boxing Day “Duck Race”. Our current electric scooter fleet now stands at 5 vehicles all of which are in full use and have brought some independence and pleasure to their users.

Birthday greetings were sung to one of our newest members Mrs Annie Percy who has now joined the elite band of people enjoying the “free bus pass entitlement”.

Assembled members warmly welcomed Wybert Bendall. His stories of the Mining Valleys of South Wales and his colourful presentation of poem and verse brought memories, laugh lines and those intermittent quirk smiles to many a face. Some of his stories told were “ Cwm Band”, “Chapel Thomas”, “Mrs Hughes and her five Woodbines” and many more. Thank you Wybert for a most entertaining afternoon.

Wendy, Rita, Kay, Judi and Marjorie prepared, presented and completed the refreshment scenario in excellent stile, with Kay almost missing out on her raffle winnings, which was conducted by Brian, Bryn and Michael.

Our next meeting will be a trip out to Tavernspite Garden Centre on Tuesday 20th April 04. Please let Michael or Rita know your menu choice as soon as you can. For further information please contact Michael on 01348 840282 or John on 01348 872240 or indeed visit our website www.fishguardstrokeclub.co.uk as sponsored by ePembs.
