With Christmas just around the corner 49 Club members and invited guest enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch at the Beggar’s Reach, country Hotel, Burton on Tuesday 6th December 05. The warm welcome and kind hospitality given by Mr & Mrs Smallman & Staff of the Hotel was second to none. With the exception to the melon starter, cornucopia amounts of food was served in piping hot dishes and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The Chairman heralded the good news, stating the Christmas lunch dining fee and coach travel will be paid for from raffle monies raised over the year, which received a generous round of applause.

Apologies were given on behalf of those invited guests unable to attend and from Peggi & Ivor Evans.

A warm welcome was given to Mr & Mrs Walter Hart of Black Gate, Letterston and was thanked for services in kind given to the Club during the year.

Members were informed that Mrs Sue Langford had been co-opted onto the Committee and the Chairman gave best wishes for many happy & enjoyable hours in her toils for the Club.

A rendering of “Happy Birthday” was sung in harmony to Bryn Davies, Vaughan Evans, Joyce Green & Margaret Phillips (Letterston).

The Chairman wished Margaret Phillips (Trevine) & Graham Bindon speedy recoveries to better health after receiving hospital treatment for their respective medical problems.

More good news was given by the Chairman in respect to the Club’s Holiday on Ice outing on Thursday 16th February 2006, insomuch that the coach travel had been sponsored by PCC for the sum £220.00. The remaining 5 spare tickets to attend the show were soon sold to members. Rita will collect monies for the event at the January meeting 2006. Arrangements are in hand to stop for an evening meal on the homeward journey. Travel & pick-up times will be promulgated in due course.

With a glut of raffle prizes Bryn Davies & Ann Harries had no problem in beating the current raffle record of £72 set by Brian Dickin by raising £103. Our Treasurer was well pleased with the realisation.

Mr Michael Lewis thanked Mr & Mrs Smallman & their staff for the excellent meal & service provided

Our next merry meeting will be Christmas tea at St Teresa’s, Convent Hall on Tuesday 20th December 05, between 1.30pm to 3.30pm. The Haverfordwest, Music Hall Players will give performances in Dance & Song during the afternoons entertainment. Sue Langford has generously volunteered to organise the catering amenities, and would welcome any assistance from any other Lady or indeed gentlemen, for this evolution. Our local MEP, Mrs T Dunwoody-Kneasfsey & residents of St Teresa’s Rest Home have also been invited to join in our jollifications.

The President of our Club, Mrs Rita Rowles suggested a gathering of ALL Pembrokeshire Stroke & Dysphasic Clubs (six clubs in total) be made for a Christmas Lunch in 2006, which was received unanimously by Club members for arrangements to be made accordingly.

We thank you for your support, wishing you all a joyous, peaceful Christmas & happy healthy 2006
