Tuesday 15th June 04 was once again a glorious day weather wise and indeed the Club’s tea out at Café Beca. In the absence of one of our regular drivers, Club members gave their thanks and a warm welcome to John Edge, who volunteered his services to drive the PVTA specialised vehicle for the afternoon under supervision of the route director, John Kingsnorth. With so many members wishing to partake of the afternoon tea & trip out, requirement to hire a luxury coach was made from “ Bysiau Cwm TAF Valley Coaches”, whose driver, Derek is commended for his courteousness and willingness given during the course of his duties of the afternoon.
During tea the Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis reported that the founder of the Club, Captain Viv Rowles, had been rushed into Withybush Hospital with heart problems, hence, the absence of Rita, who had organised today’s event. Our President, Mr Ben Fenemore was making slow and steady progress in his health problems. Club members offered their sincere best wishes to Viv & Ben for a speedy recovery back to better health. Apologies were also received from Kay Richards, Billy Affley, Tony and Joyce Green.
A warm welcome was given to Olivia & Vaughan Evans who has not been able to attend previous meetings due to medical problems.
A vote of thanks was given to the management and staff of Café Beca for their very warm hospitality and the excellent tea served with bottomless tea & coffee pots, which was so refreshing on such a hot day.
Once again raffle prizes were plentiful in number and our grateful thanks to all those persons that donated them. Brian, Wendy and Lillian enticed members to reach into their deep pockets to contribute to Club coffers by buying tickets. The trio, managed to keep our Treasurer very happy with the raffle realisation.
Before bringing the Tea party to a close a rendering of “Happy Birthday” was sung to Lillian Evans, who responded accordingly.
