On Tuesday 15th February 05 in glorious sunshine 42 members were conveyed to the Glen Hotel, Haverfordwest to have a three course luncheon. Our most grateful thanks to Summerdale Coaches in the supply of Coach and driver for the afternoon. PVTA drivers Ken & John were also gainfully employed collecting members from their homes in isolated localities in the North of Pembrokeshire. Congratulations to Wendy Bindon, Club organiser, who’s planning and implementation of the event was second to none.
During courses the Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis gave apologies from Judi Chapman who is currently in Withybush Hospital, Ward 3 receiving medical treatment. Mona James is making steady progress and requested her thanks be conveyed to all members for their warmth and sincerity given during her treatment at Cardiff. Margaret Phillips of Trevine and Rita Rowles also submitted apologies. Brian Dickin our regular raffle Master, was unable to attend due to circumstances beyond his control.
Birthday greetings were sung to Eluned Owen who has now qualified for a citizen’s Bus Pass.
In the absence of Brian Dickin the abundance of donated raffle prizes made the assignment of selling tickets by Michael & John an enjoyable task of which managed to raise £71. To enhance the raffle realisation, an auction of a beautifully knitted Welsh Doll was and made a further £20.
Our youngest Stroke member, Robert Warlow gave a vote of thanks on behalf of all Club members, to the Committee for their support and work, which they so generously donate without recompense.
The next Club meeting will be at St Teresa’s Convent Hall on St Davids Day, 1st March 05 when we shall have the pleasure of Josephine Thomas once again giving detail of her metal detecting exploits and some local stories of her past.
