Our grateful thanks to the general public that supported the Club at Letterston Carnival on Saturday 12th July 03 in such glorious weather conditions. Grateful thanks to Letterston Carnival Committee for their kindness in permitting us to pitch our marquee at their event so we could raise funds to purchase 2 Electric Wheelchairs for Stroke Victims.

Name the Teddy was won by "Don 874779" naming number 098, Gareth.

Raffle prizes were won by the following: - 1st-Fruit Hamper, 840658, 2nd - Spice Rack, 840302, 3rd - Fruit Hamper, 874337, 4th- Wine, 840582, 5th-After Shave, 840607, 6th- Picture Frame Set 841003 and 7th- Surprise, 840949.

It was nice to meet so many old friends at the event and even more joyful to make new friendships with people from far and wide.

On Tuesday 15th July 03 it was indeed a sight for sore eyes to witness the two "Johns" having to collect and return Club Members to their homes after the day's outing at Barn Court, Templeton. In the temporary absence of our regular driver Ken, navigating skills were somewhat not up to the normal standard, with JP's interpretations of some of the signposts on the country roads around Pembrokeshire, albeit the driving skills of JFK were exemplary.

On arrival at Barn Court, situated on the main A478 Tenby to Cardigan road, the Secretary informed members of the sad loss of the younger Brother to our Chairman, Tony Lewis. Sincere condolences were extended to Michael and his family.

Other sad news was reported that the founder of the Club Captain Viv Rowles had submitted his resignation from the Club due to age and continual poor health. Viv has worked on community projects for the past 31 years and stated his greatest reward was forming the Fishguard and District Stroke Club. His expertise, guidance and hard work will be sadly missed.

Captain Viv Rowles reported some grant funding had been approved by PAVS to help support Club's project to purchase 2 electric wheelchairs for club member's usage, which was applauded by all.

A literally warm welcome (due to extreme weather conditions) was given to our new Club member, Graham Bindon, of Goodwick and his good lady Wendy. Chairman, Michael Lewis wished them both many hours of happiness with the Club. Graham responded by stating he only wished he had joined the Club sooner, adding that in such a short space of time he had made so many new friends and how he was enjoying his first meeting in such a happy atmosphere.

The bubbly, friendly conversations in the tea room were brought to a temporary but gentle "hush" in seeing the delicious home-made cakes and "goodies" being delivered to the tables by waitresses that also served from bottomless tea and coffee pots. Our sincere gratitude to the management and staff of Barn Court in the creation of such a friendly and homely meeting place.

With time on our side the members from Fishguard enjoyed a sightseeing tour along the coastal roads of Newgale, St Davids, Trevine and Mathry on such a pleasant and beautiful evening, which ended a perfect day out.

Tony persuaded everyone to partake in the raffle that had many prizes. Words not to be repeated were expressed when the secretary won the first prize (again). Bryn was well pleased with the raffle's realisation.
Our next meeting on 5th August 03 will be a BBQ at Viv & Rita's.
