In order for 42 members to enjoy the programmed event, Tea at the Victorian Conservatory at Simpson Cross, volunteers conveyed members from isolated areas to meet the main coach as supplied by Summerdale, at Min-yr- Afon, Letterston, on Tuesday 16th August 05, using their private cars, The brilliant weather conditions added extra pleasure to the outing, allowing that rare occasion for some members to have their tea, out on the lawn, which indeed posed no problem for the management & staff of the Victorian Conservatory restaurant. Some members had to surrender reasoning for their late arrival admitting that the Agricultural Show caused their delay, which was duly accepted, by the Chairman, however poor navigation would have been nearer the truth! With an abundance of mixed sandwiches, scones, cream, jam, tea and coffee, all diets were scarified for the afternoon.

Warm welcome were given to Wendy Owen and Graham Jones on becoming members of the Club. Howard Morse who had been encouraged to assist Tommy Reynolds for the afternoon was also greeted and thanked for his support for Tommy.

The Chairman, Michael Lewis gave apologies on behalf of the following members: -

Mona James, Margaret & Bert Phillips, Sue & David Stanley, Eluned Owen, Brian Dickin, Brenda Jaunch, Annie Watkins, Sue Hosgood, John Kingsnorth & Ken Heyday.

The chairman stated how pleasing it was to have Lillian Evans back into the Club after such a long period of recovery, convalescing from broken bones in her foot.

A rendering of “Happy Birthday” was sung in harmony to Michael Lewis, Christine Williams & Bert Phillips.

With a wealth of raffle prizes Bryn & John had no problem in the selling of raffle tickets to members, which helped to raise the Club’s bank balance by £70.00.

A vote of thanks was given to the management and staff of the Victorian Conservatory restaurant for their kindness & hospitality.

On Thursday 18th August 05, with kind permission from the management of Kwik Save Food Store, Fishguard, a successful “Flag Day” was held in changeable weather conditions. Our sincere thanks to the management of Kwik Save and to the general public for their continued support.

Tuesday 23rd August 05 members had an excellent day out to see the musical “Oliver” at the Art Centre, Aberystwyth and were enjoyed by all.

Our next regular meeting will be held at St Teresa’s Convent Hall, Fishguard between 1.30 – 3.30pm, Alun Vaughan is conjuring up a surprise afternoon’s entertainment instead of the programmed “Beetle Drive”.
