Tuesday 16th December 03 saw the sun setting on the last event of the Club's calendar year with a Christmas festive tea at St Teresa's Convent Hall. Everyone was in a joyful mood, dressed in various colourful attire. Some with flashing ear-rings, some with extraordinary loud ties playing different festive tunes, but most rewarding of all, a cheerful smile worn by everyone, seemingly rising above their cruel afflictions.

Mr Lewis the Club's Chairman gave apologies from Joyce Green and Rosa Owen who were both in poor health to which he offered the Club's best wishes for a speedy recovery to them both.

Words of welcome were given to Fishguard's Mayor, Councillor Ann Harries, Brian Dickin a new and very active Club Committee Member and also to the return of the Club's Secretary after his jaunt to Australia and New Zealand.

December seems to be a very popular month for birthday celebrations with no fewer than four Club members enjoying their birthdays within the month, Joyce Green, Vaughan Evans, Margaret Phillips and actually celebrating her birthday on Christmas Day our chairman's wife Mrs Virginia Lewis. The Tredafydd School choir under the direction of Mrs Ann Hallor and Miss Matthias sang a rendering of "happy birthday".

Before settling down to enjoy the choral attributes of Tredafydd School Choir their Head Teacher Mrs Hallor, presented a substantial cheque to the Club's Chairman, as raised by the pupils of the School in numerous sponsored actives during the year. Mr Lewis responded accordingly with much gratitude and praises towards the children's marvels and indeed their kindness and efforts in recognising and helping elderly people that have suffered this cruel, crippling and sometimes devastating complaint, Stroke.

A rapturous round of applause was given to the youngsters before and after an excellent choral performance of many Welsh songs. Mr Fenemore, Club's President reported that sadly this would be the last performance for Stroke Club members to listen to these talented youngsters, as the School will be closing in September 2004, with pupils and Teaching staff going to new schools scattered within the district, but offered them the best of health and much happiness in their new schools.

Many Ladies of the Club had prepared a scrumptious Christmas tea, not only for the Stroke Club members but also for the 19 Children and staff of Tredafydd School, making one big happy party, ending a most rewarding and successful year, which the Committee extend their most grateful thanks to you all. Diolch yn Fawr.

Fishguard Mayor, Councillor Ann Harries, who had worked undauntingly throughout the afternoon drew the raffle tickets, to which nearly everyone went home with a prize. Mr Bryn Davies, Club's Treasurer seemed well pleased with raffle realisation and was still counting when the hall was placed in darkness.

Our next Club Meeting will be at St Teresa's Convent Hall, on Tuesday 6th January 2004. For further information please contact Michael on 01348 840282 or John on 01348 872240 or indeed visit our website www.fishguardstrokeclub.co.uk. Sponsored by ePembs
