The first meeting for the Club in 2005 was an outing to the Aberystwyth Art Centre to see The Wardens Spectacular Pantomime production “Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood” directed by Richard Cheshire. For the 31members that ventured out on this blustery showery, cold day, the wintry blues were soon cast aside when joining in the Pantomime’s slapstick and warnings “He’s behind you” theme. All in all everyone had a most enjoyable day, sadly though with no cafes or restaurants open on the return journey from Aberystwyth to Fishguard, members had to await their Sunday roast dinner to their arrival back at 7.00pm. To fill some empty seats on the trip, two young helpers Jason & Daniel Venables, Grandsons of John & Mary Palmer joined in the Pantomime frolics and would like to thank all the Club members for their very kind invitation for such an enjoyable day.
Sue & Len Langford were somewhat distraught seeing Club executives carrying loose documents under their arms at Club meetings, so they presented Michael & John with leather brief cases, which were received with much surprise and appreciation by both.
A report was given on the president Mr Ben Fenimore, Judi Chapman and Mona James health with best wishes to them all for speedy recoveries to better well-being.
On the return journey home The Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis announced three members were about to celebrate their Birthdays, Terry Williams, Ken Heyday & Olivia Evans, however due to their temporary absence on the coach a rendering of “Happy Birthday” will be given with zest at our next regular meeting.
The committee and Club members offer their gratitude to John Kingsnorth and Ken Heyday for their services in conveying Club members living at far reached places, from & to their homes using their own vehicles as no PVTA transport was available.
Our next regular meeting will be on Tuesday 1st February 2005 at St Teresa’s Convent hall, between 1.30 – 3.30pm. Anyone that has suffered a Stroke, TIA or CVA and their Carers are more than welcome to join in our activities or indeed any person that can assist in helping these unfortunate people, would be most welcomed.
