On Friday 12th November 04, Committee members assembled at “The Ship” Lowertown, to disclose the name of the Teddy Bear, competition. The winner proved to be the Landlord of the Ship Mr Richard Davies, who had chosen the name of “Holly”. Richard promptly offered the prize back so as to be re-named at a later date, raising more funds for the Stroke Club. The Chairman of the Club, Mr Michael Lewis thanked Richard and Jan for their very kind hospitality, also the patrons of their Hostelry in the generous support given to the Club.

With Mr Rodney Kendrick at the helm of the Summerdale Coach and Ken Heyday & John Kingsnorth driving the specialised transport, members were picked-up at various points along the A40, on Tuesday 16th November 04, to be taken to Llanelli Shopping Centre for their annual Christmas shopping ritual. Sincere apologies to Larry & Shelia Evans for the inconvenience caused to the oversight of their required pick-up point! Llanelli locals were amazed at the sudden invasion of 39 Fishguard Stroke Club members wearing their Royal Blue sweatshirts, some flashing by on their electric scooters enjoying the undercover shopping precinct on a cold dismal day. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day out, particularly Ann Goodman who acquired a new skill in operating and using an electric scooter.

Before departing from Llanelli the Chairman reported that Doreen Swailes was progressing well after all her concerning medical problems and was currently in ward 1 of Withybush hospital. Mr Ben Fenemore and Mona James were also making good progress. Best wishes for speedy recoveries were extended to them.

Birthday greeting were given to Ivor & Peggy Evans and Brenda Jauch, and under the guidance of our musical director Kay Richards, a rendering of “Happy Birthday” was sung.

Once again may we remind Club members and indeed members of the public of the forthcoming Prize Bingo, to be held at the Fishguard Railwaymen’s Club, on Thursday 25th November 04. Doors open at 7.00pm, with “eyes down” at 8.30pm. We have some fantastic prizes to be won, as donated by local businesses. So come along in crowds, enjoy yourselves, we will find room for you.

Our next regular meeting will be Christmas lunch at Tavernspite on Tuesday 7th December 04. Coach pick-up time is 11.30am at Min-yr-Afon, Letterston (Rita’s house). Members using the specialised transport will be notified. For more information please contact Michael on 01348 840282 or John on 01348 872240 or indeed visit our website www.fishguardstrokeclub.co.uk as so generously sponsored by ePembs.
