“Singing in the rain”, based on the MGM film, produced and Directed by Richard Cheshire at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre was an outing Club members thoroughly enjoyed on Tuesday 17th August 04. Once again our chairman and PVTA driver Ken Heyday, made an early start to assemble Club members at Min-yr-Afon, Letterston to catch the main coach as supplied by Summerdale coaches, and so expertly driven by Mr Rodney Kendrick.
We arrived at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in plenty of time to partake in a cup of tea and a light snack before settling down to the afternoon matinee performance of the brilliant musical show. Our entry and exit from the theatre took us through the dressing rooms of the actors and actress to which our baby member of the club, Robert Warlow, enjoyed much pleasure, receiving overwhelming cuddles and affection from many of lady cast members, much envy was shown upon other Club members faces. After the show and before setting off back to Pembrokeshire members sorted out their own taste buds requirements from the cornucopia hot food and delicious dessert counters.
Sadly we have learnt that Joyce Morgan was unable to join us due to having a very nasty fall, a suspected TIA (mini stroke) of which during her accident some one took advantage of her predicament and relieved her of her purse and pension monies!
How callous some people can be! All the Club members wish you a speedy recovery, Joyce.
Apologies were received from our President, Mr Ben Fenemore, Doreen Swailes, Billy Affley, Olivia Evans, Brian Dickin, Margaret Phillips (Trevine) and Mona James who is not enjoying the best of health at the present.
Best wishes and a speedy recovery were given to Christine Williams who had recently broken some bones in her foot. Birthday greeting were also sung to her under the direction of our talented Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis, in his delectable singing voice.
Our appreciation is given to the Management and Staff of Kwik Save, Fishguard in permitting the Club to hold their annual Flag Day on Thursday 19th August 04.
A very big thank you to the management and staff at the Aberystwyth Art Centre for all their help and kindness given during our visit. On arrival back in Pembrokeshire after our fantastic day out in Aberystwyth, members disembarking from the coach, could literally be heard and seen “Singing in the Rain”.
The Club’s next meeting will be on 7th September 04, at St Teresa’s Convent Hall, when we shall be having a very special “Beetle Drive”. We would like as many members as possible to be present on this occasion.
