A Club meeting on Tuesday 20th January 04 was held at St Teresa's Convent Hall inviting a well known Guest speaker, Ms Josephine Thomas, giving a talk on “GHOSTS”

Before inviting Ms Thomas to the podium to address assembled members, Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis reported the sad death of one of our oldest members, Ms Rosa Owen, who died on Friday 16th January 04, and in respect to her and her family, a requested for a moment's silence to reflect upon some of the happy and joyful memories that Club members had shared with Rosa, during her attendance at the Club's events.

The Chairman informed members, Joyce Green was still in hospital making good progress.

A warm welcome was given to Mrs Brenda Jauch on becoming a member of the Club and the Chairman wished her many happy hours with us all. Michael also gave apologies received from, Margaret Phillips (Letterston), Terry Williams, Lillian Rees, Vaughan & Olivia Evans, Rita Rowles and JFK. Birthday greetings were sung to Olivia & Terry in their temporary absence.

Josephine was warmly welcomed to give her talk on “GHOSTS”. Reflecting on some of her personal experiences and encounters with these supernatural beings, one could observe Club members parlour changing, listening to her spooky, spine chilling stories. One of the many stories told reflected of how a figure dressed as a Monk lead Josephine to a gold chalice, which has to this day been recorded as her most rewarding find in metal detecting history and this find can be now viewed in the National Museum of Wales. Apparently this Monk has never been seen again so don't go looking for him.

A vote of thanks was giving to Josephine for a most interesting talk. The Chairman himself reflected on the stories, and endorsed some of their contents.

Members colouring was brought back to normality on hearing the wonderful news that donations had been received from, Four Acre Trust, Probus and Knights of the Fishguard Round Table.

Tea and light refreshments and clearing up were well executed by Lillian, Judi, Wendy and Kay. Thanks to you all.

Ben, Brian and Bryn conducted the raffle proceedings.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 3rd February 04 at St Teresa's Convent Hall, where we will have a BEETLE DRIVE. For further information please contact Michael on 01348 840282 or John on 01348 872240, or indeed visit our website page on www.fishguardstrokeclub.co.uk sponsored by ePembs
