Our annual BBQ on Tuesday 20th July 04, at Viv & Rita’s was on this occasion very much dampened by rain. However this did not cause any despondency amongst the 36 members attending the event. Under the shelter of the marquee on loan from the Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffaloes (ROAB) Cleddau Lodge, Letterston, members enjoyed a magnificent BBQ as prepared & presented by Viv & Rita. It was evident from the many dishes of cuisine prepared, that some considerable hours of labour had been duly sacrificed by these founder members of the Club, so as to bring some enjoyment and pleasure to those attending. A glorious trifle enough to feed many, was the artistic skill of Virginia, brought many requests for “seconds”
The chairman, Mr Michael Lewis gave apologies from Mona James, both Margaret Phillips, Brian Dickin, Vaughan & Olivia Evans, Ann Goodman and Megan Lawrence.
He continued by offering a warm welcome to the President, Mr Ben Fenemore after his long period of incapacity and wished him continued good health. Greetings were also given to Joyce & Tony Green on their return back into the Club.
Club members were invited to a forthcoming Strawberry cream tea to be held by Llanstinian Church of St Justine on Sunday 25th July 04 by John Kingsnorth who volunteered to organise any required transportation for the event. Cost of tea is £2.50
Wendy, Club organiser, requested members to show their preference to next years respite holiday, to which Plymouth, Stratford-upon-Avon and Weymouth resorts, proved most favourable for further research and costing.
The Secretary informed members of two forthcoming outings, “Singing in the Rain” at Aberystwyth in August and “Holiday on Ice” at Cardiff, February 2005. Support for both outings was outstanding and bookings will be made accordingly.
It is so gratifying to report that overwhelming support was given by the general public, numerous local Businesses and organisations for the sponsored walk conducted on 6th July 04 by Club members. It is requested that all sponsor forms be returned to the Club’s Secretary so as to finalize total sponsorship monies raised, and so justly be advised to all.
Michael, Bryn & Wendy conducted the raffle in the absence of Brian Dickin.
