On Sunday 21st November 04 members of the Committee visited Judi Chapman in Cardigan Ward at Morriston Hospital who had undergone a surgical operation. Judi was delighted to receive her many visitors and invited them to stay for afternoon tea, which was tactfully declined.

Passing through Haverfordwest on the return journey, a courteous call was made on Doreen Swailes in Withybush Hospital who had also undergone surgery to repair a facture of her hip joint. Doreen was in good spirits and requested to be remembered to all. Sadly Doreen is expecting a long stay in Hospital until such time as her hip joint repairs.

The Prize Bingo held on Thursday 25th November 04 proved a great success as a fund-raising event, attracting many members of the public from far and near, which helped to raise nearly £340.00, this will go towards next years respite holiday. It may be imprudent to point the finger or even to suggest that some people still require to, top-up their learning skills in this simple pastime activity! Sincere gratitude to all the local Businesses that donated all those magnificent prizes and indeed the general public for their supported on turning out on such a wet night. Thank you.

Tuesday 7th December 04 saw Club members rushing around to make their various medical appointments at different venues so as not to miss the annual Christmas Lunch, which this year was held at Tavernspite Garden Centre. The coach as supplied by Summerdale was punctual on its arrival, as driven so expertly by Rodney Kendrick, who was well dressed for the occasion in his festive regalia. Management and staff of Tavernspite Garden centre warmly welcomed 41 members and guests of the Stroke Club. The cuisine, service and hospitality was second to none of which everyone thoroughly enjoyed the outing so much so requesting a further visit to the Centre in the not too distance future.

During the Lunch the Chairman Mr Michael Lewis gave an update on Judi Chapman and Doreen Swailes.

Apologies were given on behalf of the Club’s President, Mr Ben Fenemore, also Mona James, Annie Percey, Dorothy Beckwith, Mr & Mrs Brian Dickin, Sue Hosgood, Brenda Jauch, Kay Richards & Mr & Mrs Raymond Young most of whom were not well or just recovering from sickness. All were given the blessing of Club members for speedy recoveries to better health.

A rendering of “Happy Birthday” was sung in a somewhat mystical disarray as Michael was singing in the wrong key, after what we believe was too much intoxication, this was given to our Treasurer Mr Bryn Davies, who will now receive his TV License free of charge by courtesy of the Government current policy and also Mr Vaughan Evans from the City of St Davids. Apologies to both for such an unearthly discord.

In the temporary absence of our regular raffle officiator Brian, monies were extracted by more mundane methods by Bryn & John, which fell short of realisations to those of Brian’s sterling efforts of the past events.

Mrs Wendy Bindon gave an update on next years respite holiday.

Our next meeting will at St Teresa’s Convent Hall on Tuesday 21st December 04 when will we be entertained by some of the junior members of the Goodwick Brass Band. A special Christmas tea will be provided.
