On Thursday 22nd May 03 a successful Coffee morning was held at "The Ship & Anchor", High Street, Fishguard, donated Mrs Gwen Aylward. With the support of many Town Council Dignitaries, which included the newly installed Mayor of Fishguard Miss Anne Harries and her Consort Councillor David Williams, coffee and tea demands were totally inexhaustible. Ticket revenue hit a new record with over 300 tickets being sold by numerous outlets. Dwrbach WI ladies were well represented who also gave their invaluable support in cake donations for the "cake stall". Our sincere thanks to all those that sacrificed their baking skills, time, effort and helped to raise such a magnificent sum for the Stroke Club coffers, which are currently on low ebb after the much needed and planned respite holiday at Midsomer Norton. Also a very big thank you to Mrs Aylward and staff for their kindness and dedication in all the hard work they gave to support our cause.
Friday 30th May 03, We held our Annual General Meeting at the Fishguard Bay Hotel. The Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis in his address thanked the Committee for all their support and hard work given throughout the year and expressed that he had much pleasure and delight in carrying out his duties during his term of office.
Congratulations and thanks was given to Rita on yet another well-planned and successful respite holiday. The Chairman also gave praise for all the fund-raising efforts and the abundance of raffle prizes, which supply never, seemed to run dry. A special thanks was given to the Treasurer, Bryn Davies and Club Secretary John Palmer for their sterling, sustainable and tireless efforts.
Mr Lewis stated membership had increased over the past year, which was encouraging to note that more sufferers are now taking advantage of our social outlet.
Mr Ben Fenemore, who was apologetic to not being able to have taken a more active role within the Club, gave the President's address, poor health prevented him from doing so. He congratulated the Committee for their dedicated team efforts but emphasised we must not rest on our laurels but to innovate new ideas to maintain our current high standing within the community of Fishguard & District to help Stroke Sufferers and their Carers.
