On Tuesday 2nd August 05 members arrived at St Teresa’s Convent Hall to enjoy an afternoon’s entertainment to be given by County Councillor Peter Stock. The seclusion of the topic to be delivered by Peter was a complete mystery and was awaited with baited breath by some Committee members, having already heard some of his stories. However after his introduction by the Chairman and the welcome given by Club members, Peter’s humorous factual and fictional stories laid their prohibitive aspirations to rest without any adverse comment, but on the contrary brought much joviality and laughter for the complete afternoon. Peter, thank you, for a delightful afternoon’s entertainment.
The Chairman, Michael Lewis welcomed Len Langford back into the Club after his extended vocation in Morriston Hospital after receiving corrective coronary therapy.
Mona James was in the Heath Hospital having undergone surgery to her neck and Graham Bindon was in Singleton Hospital receiving treatment to his eye but it is understood he is allowed out on parole at the weekends. Lillian Evans was making slow but steady progress and enjoying the hospitality and comforts afforded by her son & daughter-in-law. Best wishes for speedy recoveries were extended to them all.
Apologies were given on behalf of the following members: -
Kay Richards, Bryn Davies, Dorothy Beckwith, Mr & Mrs Vaughan Evans & Mr & Mrs Michael Owen.
Wendy announced the tariff for the forthcoming outing to Aberystwyth to see “Oliver” on 23rd August 05, which includes coach fare & show ticket. The raffle proved a great success as usual under the direction of our resident raffle enthusiast Brian Dickin.
It was noted that many male helpers (under the supervision of our Lady members) were engaged in the domestics of washing up after tea evolutions. Were they volunteers or were they “pressed ganged”, nobody will ever know! Well done to you all.
By very kind permission of the management of Kwik Save Food Store the Club will be holding a Flag Day on Thursday 18th August 05. Please support our aims and objectives in helping Stroke Victims and their Carers
Sadly our next regular meeting on 16th August 05, Tea at the Victoria Tea Rooms, we will not have the luxury of the PVTA transport, however arrangements are being made to pick-up members by private cars to meet the main coach for this outing. Pick-up times will be given in due course.
