On Tuesday 2nd September 03 members were delighted to receive a donated "Churchill" Electric Scooter as donated by one of Fishguard County Echo readers. The founder of the Club, Captain Viv Rowles, drove the vehicle into St Teresa's Convent Hall, guided by a huge round of applause from assembled Club members waiting to partake in our programmed Beetle Drive.
The Chairman, Mr Michael Lewis informed members of how the donation of the Scooter came about and explained why the donor did not wish any pomp and circumstance in his act and deed, which was once again applauded by all.
Michael gave a brief report on members not able to attend the meeting. Olivia Evans and Ann Goodman were medically indisposed. Our man Stan was receiving the best of care at a local rest home.
A rendering of happy birthday was sung to Marjorie Evans and John Palmer. Anniversary greetings for 59 years of marriage were extended to Elwyn and Marjorie Evans and as a token to their accomplishment the Keys of the newly acquired Electric Scooter was formally presented to Elwyn to enjoy the benefits from the vehicle on a temporary loan basis.
Rita gave members details and costs of "Polo Shirts" with embroider Club's logo .The majority of members chose the colour Royal Blue.
After explanation to the rules of "Beetle" it was obvious the competition was in producing drawings of creatures, which had no resemblance to four legged insects on this earth, however, honours of victory went to our Treasurer, Bryn Davies and runner up went to Joyce Morgan. Sadly the Chairman's wife Virginia needs a little more practise in the game who won the "booby prize".
