Report on a successful year

  • Having received no motions or amendments to the Constitution the Chairman presented the annual report.
  • Lunches out Harp, Tavernspite, Forge, Beggar’s Reach, Salutation, Glen Hotel & Bush Inn, proved in favour with majority of membership and will continue in 2005 - 2006
  • Teas Out – Café Beca.
  • Trips out – 2 shows @ Aberystwyth “Singing in the Rain” & “Robin Hood and babes in the wood” & Hollywood on Ice @ Cardiff. All enjoyed the shopping trip to Llanelli. Costs of hired coaches has escalated over the current year to £2,900 for lunch trips & outings, of which we will impose an £2.00 charge for journeys in Pembrokeshire & a £5.00 charge for journeys outside Pembrokeshire.
  • The respite holiday at Plymouth proved a success and plans for next years holiday must be implemented as soon as possible to obtain the best deals going and value for money. Wendy Bindon on her very first appointment as Holiday organiser, taking over the reins from Rita Rowles has done an excellent job, to which a vote of thanks must be given. One outcome from our visit to the Plymouth Activity Stroke Club has been a cross pollination of ideas from our Club members insomuch that their members would like to have more outings & activities such as ours & visit other Stroke clubs within their area. Could our Stroke members wish to visit other Stroke Clubs within Pembrokeshire?
  • In house activities were well supported by members, however “Beetle Drives & Bossia Bowls” were somewhat less favoured. Members have requested more outings in the summer and activities of games & guest speakers in the winter. We have devised a form to sound out member’s thoughts and ideas.
  • The support of members donating raffle prizes was outstanding and must be encouraged with much gratitude to raffle organisers throughout the year in particular Brian Dickin.
  • Sadly as already reported we have lost 4 members, but their places have been taken by new members, Tommy Reynolds, Annie Watkins, Roger Hidden & possibly Peter Penrice
  • We have managed to purchase another Electric Scooter (Wheelchair) and other expensive items e.g. an address system, a Laptop computer & Digital camera. The last two items were purchased with grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund
  • The Club has had tremendous support from Lloyds TSB & The Big Lottery Fund to support respite Holidays over the next three years.

The Chairman gave thanks to the committee who sacrificed their time, effort & labour in their true dedication to respective appointments in particular Bryn Davies, Treasurer & Wendy Bindon Holiday Organiser both have worked as a team throughout the year without scruple or diffidence, to which he felt most proud to have occupied the Chair for the Fishguard & District Stroke Club, hoping the Club will continue to go from strength to strength in the ensuing year under the guidance of the newly appointed Committee.

Treasurer’s Report: - Treasurer gave an appraisal of accounts as audited by an independent auditor Mr William Marshall & Co. F.F.A, M.C.M.I. Proposed that the accounts be adopted was made by J. Palmer & Seconded by A. Goodman with grateful thanks to the Auditor & Treasurer. Agreed
